Originally written as a tribute to Napolean Bonaparte, Beethoven’s third symphony depicts courage and heroism. When Beethoven learned that Napolean declared himself the Emperor of France, Beethoven tried to destroy this magnificent work. The symphony now represents Beethoven’s victory as a musician. After struggled with depression, Beethoven’s work shows his trimuph over his own deafness.
