With the possible exception of Plastic Pattern Blocks this is the most used manipulative in our home. Base ten blocks are my favorite for teaching place value and operations. I use these quite often with the Techniques of Problem Solving Level 2 to help kids understand how to solve a problem. You can use the blocks in many ways without a book. If having a resource to help you is more your style, choose this one.
